Manchester United Sign Cesc Fabregas Or Else…

MANCHESTER UNITED | The Best and Most Supported Football Club In The World

- Glory Glory Man Utd Dot Com

Well, it’s January, it’s New Year and it means that the transfer window is re-opened again. Manchester United will welcome at least one player in the shape of Senagalese, Mame Biram Diouf . Whether or not there will be further addition to the current squad remains to be seen. One thing for sure Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that he is satisfied with his charges and not interested to purchase any more player during the January transfer window. The press however is still throwing some names and linking them with a move to Manchester United this month.

Among the big names mentioned are Valencia’s duo, David Villa and David Silva and German’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer who is tipped to succeed Edwin Van Der Sar at United. With United having injury problems recently in particular at their back four, Sir Alex was rumoured to be also interested to sign a defender on loan as cover. The veteran Scottish manager however insisted that he is happy with how his team is coping with the injuries and confident that all his players will soon be back – therefore no need to bring anyone as cover.

Apart from the players mentioned, some other names being mentioned were Real Madrid’s striker Karim Benzema, Juventus’s defender Giorgio Chiellini and several youngsters, in particular Spanish’s midfielder Javier Matilla, tipped to be the next Xavi. With Bayern stating that Franck Ribery’s deal with Real is yet concluded, Manchester United was also mentioned as one of the few teams that might be interested in bringing the French winger to Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson
is well known for shying away from any dealing during mid-season, although two of his best dealings include Serbian hardman, Nemaja Vidic and French leftback, Patrice Evra. I don’t think he will bring any more player apart from Mame Biram Diouf, whose deal has been concluded during summer 2009. Like him, I agree that the transfer fees have flactuated and there are not many good players available (at the right price) that is good enough to wear the Red’s jersey. Other than that, signing players during mid-season might disrupt the team and player will take time to adjust to the way United are playing. Plus, we should not forget that United is doing very well at the moment and just two points shy from Chelsea who is currently leading the pack in the race for Barclay English Premier League Champion 2009-2010.

If there is any player that I want to see in Manchester United’s team sheet – that player must be Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas. Imagine a creative-goal scoring midfielder working along side a high energy box-to-box midfielder. Feeling “Deja Vu” now? Yes, I’m talking about playing Fabregas alongside Darren Fletcher which will remind us of Scholes-Keane combination at their peak. Wow! what a powerful combination that will be. I’m very sure Wayne RooneyDimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will enjoy the service from midfielders especially with Antonio Valencia on the right and Ryan Giggs on the left. It might be a dream and Arsenal will unlikely sell their prized asset to United, BUT, if the London’s club continue to underachive and their captain continue to be frustrated – I say why not go for him? We still have plenty of Ronaldo’s money left (I presume), why not throw everything for a single player. £40 – £50 million? He is certainly worth that much.

Or else, we should be patient and hope that Anderson develop into a player that Sir Alex hope he will become. I still remember football pundits used to question Sir Alex’s decision of playing Darren Fletcher in United’s midfield. They said he is not good enough and will never be a world class. Look at him now. Look at Vidic and Evra as well. It’s up to Anderson now to show that Sir Alex was right to put his faith on him. With Carrick and Scholes still represent good option in that position, Anderson will have plenty of time to develop. Let’s hope he will continue to develop and become another United’s legend.

I have faith with United’s defence and strike force. Rooney, Berbatov and Owen are quality players. I see good things ahead for young Macheda and I hope Mame will be a success at United too. I don’t think we should sign a goalkeeper as Tomasz Kuszczak is doing a fine job for us. I don’t think United needs a super goalkeeper. Let’s face it – how many times does a United’s goalkeeper required to call into action in most of our games? What we need is a keeper with good concentration and I think  Tomasz Kuszczak has that in him. Glory Glory Manchester United!

  1. I think we need another striker. David Villa will be a good buy!

Certainly a good player. But SAF must offload Berba first before signing him. Won’t be good to the club to keep 3 superstar strikers.

  2. I think we shud try 2 get torres especially after he stated that his future with liverpool is uncertain!

    Ismail N Reply:

Can’t imagine a Liverpool player move to Man Utd. But SAF will love to have Torres. In fact he has been watching him for many years before Banitez steal El Nino from him.
